I was brought on to start the UX design and direction, form logic, and strategy for their new front-end visa application. Also designs for staff-facing processing systems in the Microsoft Dynamics 365 environment.
The redesigned visa applications needed to be "smart forms", so relevant questions are asked, based on the answers applicants give and the visa they’re applying for. For these I worked with subject matter experts to understand the visa rules and logic, so that the applications could be simplified where possible and streamlined.
The visa applications will be available through a new portal. But this portal is not just visas. Employers will also be able to apply for accreditation and job checks.

Development of smart forms
This was a fascinating process, getting to know the intricacies of immigration rules and working with experts in the field. Figma was still a fairly new tool when we started to use it for this work, the comment feature and figjam hadn't been released yet. We decided on figma because of the ease of being able to work on the same file together, and the short learning curve for basic functions. The "creative" pink and yellow notes were our way of "making it work".
